Keeping It Cool at Smuggs

Things are really heating up around the resort as we blaze into the holiday weekend. We’re stoking that fire with programming to keep you and your family cooking all week. Our activities team has been decorating the village in preparation for the big celebration and encourages you to join them some USA themed events throughout the week. Tonight on the Village Green you will find red, white, and blue tie-dye along with yard games, live acoustic music, and Marko the Magician. There will also be a showing of “A League of Their Own” in the Meeting House at 8:45 pm. Before we get into everything else that’s on the menu, we want to pass along an important safety reminder.
Temperatures are expected to climb significantly over the next couple of days, so be sure to stay hydrated, wear light-colored clothing, take breaks in the shade, and cool off whenever you can. High heat can also bring the threat of severe weather. If you hear the resort’s emergency siren, head indoors immediately, as severe weather has been detected nearby by radar. Our Smuggs text alert service will also notify you of weather emergencies. You’ll find instructions for signing up below.
High Adventure
Is your 9 to 15-year-old feeling hot, bothered, and bored? Sign them up today for our High Adventure Specialty Camps. Tomorrow, the group heads out with Sterling Mountain Guides to climb one of Vermont’s rugged rock faces. On Thursday, they’ll trade harnesses for paddles and spend the day kayaking across beautiful Lake Elmore. Space is limited, so don’t wait to reserve a spot.
FunZone 2.0
Did you know FunZone 2.0 is climate controlled? As the mercury climbs, FunZone keeps things cool with indoor adventures for the whole family. The brand-new inflatable obstacle course, climbing wall, laser tag, and arcade are more than enough to keep the kids entertained for hours. Good news for parents, too. El Gato at the ReFuel Café is open Thursday through Sunday from 11:30 am to 7:00 pm, serving up delicious tacos, burritos, and what might just be one of the best ice-cold margaritas in town.

The Perk
Looking for another place to cool down? Swing by The Perk inside the Country Store. I was lucky enough to try the “Snowmaker” a couple of days ago. It’s a frozen chocolate shake blended with two shots of espresso and topped with whipped cream. In my opinion, it’s a solid choice whether you’re kickstarting the morning or treating yourself in the afternoon. Open daily at 7:30 am.
USA Watch Party
This Wednesday at 8:00 pm, join us in Bootleggers’ Lounge to cheer on the USA Men’s National Team as they take on Bosnia-Herzegovina in the knockout stage of the World Cup. Free chips and salsa will be waiting, and yelling at the TV is highly encouraged.
