Perfect day on the slopes

It was a little cloudy to start the day off, but it did not take long for the sun to take over. Temperatures were in the teens at the summits of Madonna and Sterling this morning. Once the sun came out, the temperatures rose, and we had some spring conditions on Morse and the lower half of the upper mountains. I had a blast today on groomed trails, especially Upper Chilcoot. I love how this trail actually goes on the back side of Madonna at the top and just below Catwalk. I also enjoy how the views keep changing as you work your way down the mountain. A classic intermediate cruiser to say the least! Madonna Liftline was open today from the top down to the Robin’s Run work road. Tomorrow, we plan to have top-to-bottom skiing and riding on all 3 mountains with 6 lifts operating, including Madonna I. We have 69 trails open with terrain for all ability levels. 35 trails will be groomed for tomorrow, including Upper FIS, Thomke’s, Smugglers’ Alley, Snow Snake, and Hibernator for a total of 185 acres of freshly groomed terrain. Surface conditions are variable and machine groomed with average base depths of 14 to 54 inches. Currently, it is sunny and 31 degrees at the summit of Sterling. Tomorrow’s forecast is a chance of snow and rain mix early, becoming all rain, little accumulation, windy, a high of 46 at the base and 42 degrees at higher elevations. Temperatures fall tomorrow night, and we could see 1 to 3 inches of new snow.
